Now, That's What I Call a Monoculture

Apparently, Internet Explorer has a market share of around 98.7% in South Korea. As I understand it, this is largely because the South Korean government is even more benighted than the UK one, and insists on using ActiveX controls for its dealings with the public. Oh benighted, I learned a new word lol.

On a similar vien SK is one of those places where Google doesn't penetrate well, something like 15%.

Apparently they see the simple design as a sign of weakness and love crowded pages with animated gifs and thousands of links etc.

Interesting - I didn't know that about Google. It's clearly a, er, unique computing culture there....
