Quote of the Day: Erik Huggers

It is my personal goal to use my industry knowledge and foresight to help the BBC create escape velocity and become the world’s leading media organization in the digital age - Erik Huggers

I rather liked: "...suddenly it dawned on _me (ed. surely he means 'us') that there was probably no better organization on the planet to truly drive innovation in the digital media space across Web, TV and Mobile. Think about it: a globally recognized and trusted brand name; the world’s highest quality journalism, radio and television programming; fantastic reach in the linear world and an archive that spans over three generations."

MSNBBC anyone?

I suppose he should be given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to him bringing along the baggage of his Microsoft past to the BBC - after all, it's possible that the move from MS to Beeb might be a "seeing the error of his ways" kind of thing.

But I'd be more concerned about his actual track record. "He had previously been responsible for strategy on MSTV, eHome, Zune and more" - that's not exactly a list of stellar successes, is it?

Well, I've not seen much evidence of any error-seeing yet.

Indeed, given his background, I would have expected - naively, perhaps - that he would have bent over backwards to show that he was *not* influenced by his previous employment....
